An application to renew your passport in Australia is now nearly five years old, meaning there is now a good chance that you will be denied if you apply for a new passport within the next two years.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has released new guidelines on the visa application process and the application process for an international passport, which are designed to protect applicants from being denied.
You can find the guidelines below.
If you have already applied for a passport, or if you are considering applying for a second passport, the department says you will not be able to renew the passport.
You may have to reapply if you have previously applied for more than one passport.
