Walmart is expected to open more than 200,000 jobs in the U.S. in 2018, but many of those jobs won’t be on store shelves.
Walmart’s hiring efforts come on the heels of a new wave of job cuts announced by the company.
The company has laid off more than 6.5 million jobs over the past 12 months, according to the latest available data.
Wal-Mart said last week it plans to close 7 percent of its U.K. stores in 2018 and shut down 2,000 more locations in 2019.
It also announced a massive buyout of its UK operations in 2019, saying it will invest $1.7 billion in the country.
